About us
Sociology NORTH is based at the University of Sunderland, just a stones throw away from our award winning beaches at Roker & Seaburn. Our campus sits on the banks of the river Wear, where between 1846 - 1854, a third of all ships in the UK were built.

Despite the ravages of post-industrialisation, the city is currently undergoing a major transformation. This will bring new job opportunities, sustainable homes, along with the Riverside Sunderland development, which will be the first carbon-neutral urban quarter in the UK!

We are proud of our city, we love our campus by the sea & we love our beaches in any weather!
Sociology NORTH are based at Wearside View and above you can see our new social space, which looks out over the river!

Sociology NORTH was cofounded by Sociology students & staff, who are passionate about Sociology and who want to see social change.
